Vršič – the highest Slovene road pass (1611 m), which can be reached by a panoramic path full of curves constructed during the 1st World War – if one is paying enough attention on the way up, one can notice beautiful forms engraved into the rocks and a natural window in the mountain walls of Prisank
Valley of Soča River – the Soča river is famous of its emerald green colour, rapids, river beds, canyons and untamed currents. The River tempts many kayakers from all around the world. In the summer organized river rafting on the river Soča is recommended.
On the trails of the 1st World War in the Soča Valley – here the 3 year long battle called Soška fronta stormed and left tracks that are today important cultural and historical monuments – Kluže fortress, walls, bunkers, outdoor museums, paths that were carved into stone and nicely settled army cemeteries.
Rombon Mountain – on the 2208 m high Rombon there was an Austrian fortress which was as well a set for numerous bloody battles
Boka Fall – one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Valley is the Boka Fall which can be spotted from the main road
Botanic Garden Julijana – botanic garden with an exhibition of mountain flowers
Bovec and Kanin Ski Resort – well known winter resort Bovec from where the cable car takes you to the 2200 m high Kanin – our highest ski slope and a very interesting area of high-mountain Karst
Kobarid – visit of Kobarid museum and ossuary of the 1st World
For lunch an original Soča trout and a glass of good homemade wine is recommended.
Kozjak Fall – it is only 15m high, however, at the same time very impressive above a dark green pool and picturesque channels. |
